{"id":7246,"date":"2020-10-28T18:50:36","date_gmt":"2020-10-28T10:50:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wahtn.org\/?p=7246"},"modified":"2020-10-28T18:50:36","modified_gmt":"2020-10-28T10:50:36","slug":"new-milestones-for-future-health-research-and-innovation-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old-website.retprogram.org\/wahtn\/2020\/10\/28\/new-milestones-for-future-health-research-and-innovation-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"New milestones for Future Health Research and Innovation Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The McGowan Government has announced the make-up of the Advisory Council of WA&#8217;s Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund.<\/p>\n<p>The FHRI Fund was the centrepiece of the State Government&#8217;s commitment to drive research and innovation in Western Australia by providing the State&#8217;s health and medical researchers and innovators with a secure and ongoing source of funding.<\/p>\n<p>Its establishment followed legislation that repurposed the WA Future Fund (the State&#8217;s sovereign wealth fund) &#8211; allowing interest earned on it to be directed to local health and medical research, innovation and commercialisation.<\/p>\n<p>The Advisory Council of eminent Western Australians will provide high-level advice to the Health Minister and the Department of Health.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement of the council coincides with the launch of the <a href=\"https:\/\/fhrifund.health.wa.gov.au\/About-us\/FHRI-Fund-Strategy-and-Priorities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">WA Future Health Research and Innovation Fund Strategy 2020-2022<\/a> which will provide direction for FHRI Fund activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediastatements.wa.gov.au\/Pages\/McGowan\/2020\/10\/New-milestones-for-Future-Health-Research-and-Innovation-Fund.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Read the full media statement<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The McGowan Government has announced the make-up of the Advisory Council of WA&#8217;s Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund.
