{"id":7148,"date":"2020-09-08T19:09:08","date_gmt":"2020-09-08T11:09:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wahtn.org\/?p=7148"},"modified":"2020-09-08T19:09:08","modified_gmt":"2020-09-08T11:09:08","slug":"supporting-the-implementation-of-econsent-in-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old-website.retprogram.org\/wahtn\/2020\/09\/08\/supporting-the-implementation-of-econsent-in-australia\/","title":{"rendered":"Supporting the Implementation of eConsent in Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CT:IQ is pleased to launch a series of <a href=\"https:\/\/ctiq.com.au\/implementing-econsent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">use cases<\/a> illustrating successful implementation of eConsent in Australia, aimed to be used as a guide for researchers and HRECs seeking to develop and implement eConsent.<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, Chrysalis Advisory, on behalf of CT:IQ, undertook an investigation of stakeholder opinions about the benefits, risks and critical success factors for eConsent implementation, published in a <a href=\"https:\/\/ctiq.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/eConsent-in-Clinical-Trials-compressed.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2019 report<\/a>. A summary of this report has now been published as a perspective in the MJA.<\/p>\n<p>Following on from this work, the need for use cases to demonstrate practical implementation of eConsent was identified and subsequently developed. The examples, which can now be accessed via the CT:IQ website, show that the use of eConsent is acceptable to HRECs and institutions and should be treated no differently to standard consent processes.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently three use cases featured, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/ctiq.com.au\/implementing-econsent\/australian-genomics-health-alliance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Australian Genomics Health Alliance<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/ctiq.com.au\/implementing-econsent\/royal-north-shore-hospital\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Royal North Shore Hospital<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ctiq.com.au\/implementing-econsent\/murdoch-childrens-research-institute\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Murdoch Children\u2019s Research Institute<\/a> that demonstrate:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ctiq.com.au\/implementing-econsent\/australian-genomics-health-alliance\/use-case-mackenzies-mission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">eConsent<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ctiq.com.au\/implementing-econsent\/australian-genomics-health-alliance\/use-case-ctrl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dynamic consent<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ctiq.com.au\/implementing-econsent\/australian-genomics-health-alliance\/use-case-rare-disease-and-cancer-flagships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">eConsent for remote\/telehealth study recruitment<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ctiq.com.au\/implementing-econsent\/royal-north-shore-hospital\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Use of video animations in clinical consent<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ctiq.com.au\/implementing-econsent\/murdoch-childrens-research-institute\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Paediatric Asthma Re-admissions Study<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CT:IQ will continue to provide updates as the bank of use cases on the website grows over the next few months.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CT:IQ is pleased to launch a series of use cases illustrating successful implementation of eConsent in Australia, aimed to be used as a guide for researchers and HRECs seeking to develop and implement eConsent.
