{"id":5337,"date":"2019-06-20T12:17:12","date_gmt":"2019-06-20T04:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wahtn.org\/?p=5337"},"modified":"2019-06-20T12:17:12","modified_gmt":"2019-06-20T04:17:12","slug":"2019-premiers-science-award-finalists-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old-website.retprogram.org\/wahtn\/2019\/06\/20\/2019-premiers-science-award-finalists-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"2019 Premier&#8217;s Science Award Finalists Announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to the 2019 Finalists of the Premier&#8217;s Science Awards.\u00a0Many of our partner organisations and their amazing researchers are represented.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s awards finalists include a scientist who has discovered new ways to treat and diagnose cancer; a scientist who is improving the ways our marine ecosystems are monitored, and a scientist who has found self-sustaining plant communities that can thrive in previously sterile, mined landscapes.<\/p>\n<p>Premier&#8217;s Science Award categories include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Scientist of the Year ($50,000 prize)<\/li>\n<li>Woodside Early Career Scientist of the Year ($10,000 prize)<\/li>\n<li>ExxonMobil Student Scientist of the Year ($10,000 prize)<\/li>\n<li>Shell Aboriginal STEM Student of the Year ($10,000 prize)<\/li>\n<li>Chevron Science Engagement Initiative of the Year ($10,000 prize)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Premier&#8217;s Science Awards winners and Western Australian Science Hall of Fame inductee will be announced at a ceremony on August 13, 2019.
