  • WAHTN’s 2020 Biostatistician Fellowships

    The Western Australian Health Translation Network (WAHTN) is inviting applications for 2020 – 2021 Biostatistician Fellowships. The application period closes:  9am (AWST), Monday 25 November 2019.

     

    The Fellowships align with WAHTN’s aim to support emerging research talent, building and strengthening the research workforce within WA, and enhancing our capacity and capability to undertake high quality translational research. WAHTN is offering two (2) Fellowships to employees of WAHTN Partner Organisations to provide protected time to undertake a 12 month Fellowship. The first Fellowship round will be from January 2020 to December 2020 and the second will be from July 2020 to June 2021.

     

    The Fellowships are designed to provide training opportunities for Biostatisticians to develop their skills for consulting with clinical researchers, build relationships for future collaborations, and provide biostatistical support to WAHTN Partner Organisations.

  • Cancer Council WA funding

    The Cancer Council WA have two funding opportunities now open for applications.

     

    The opportunities are:

    • Cancer Council WA Postdoctoral Fellowship – applications close Friday 19 August 2019
    • Cancer Council WA Student Vacation Scholarships – applications close Tuesday 13 August 2019

     

    The Postdoctoral Fellowship is open to biomedical and health researchers and is worth up to $75,000 each year for 3 years. With funding available from January 1, 2020. This funding will be awarded to an outstanding Early Career Researcher who will contribute to the field of cancer research in Western Australia (WA). Read the guidelines and application forms

     

    The Student Vacation Scholarships aim to encourage promising students to develop and advance their cancer-related research skills during the 2019-2020 summer holiday period. The scholarships are available to students studying disciplines related to cancer control (including biological science, medicine, behavioural science or public health).   • Deadline Closing for Allied Health Clinician Research Fellowships

    The Clinician Research Fellowships are an initiative of the WA Department of Health in partnership with the Raine Medical Research Foundation.

    The program is designed to encourage clinicians employed by Health Service Providers to develop their research capability, while continuing some clinical duties. The program also facilitates high quality research which will ultimately provide better healthcare outcomes. The research must be undertaken in WA and be of direct relevance to the WA health system.

    The program is open to eligible clinicians:

    • Working in healthcare disciplines including allied health and health sciences, dental, medical, nursing and midwifery professions
    • Who are either early or mid-career researchers
    • Who have minimal or no paid research time

    Fellowship funding will provide salary support for research duties up to 0.5 FTE, as well as contribute to minor research costs. The duration of each Fellowship can be up to three years, depending on the extent of the research proposal. during the term of the Fellowship, clinical duties in a Health Service Provider must be maintained at a minimum of 0.3 FTE.
